Whats Wrong with the Church?

Forgiveness is a fundamental building block almost as Big as Jesus Christ himself. Forgiveness is a corner stone. Jesus is The Corner Stone. The Stone the Builders Rejected. (Psalms 118:22, Matthew 21:42, Isaiah 28:16, Acts 4:11-12, 1Peter 2:6-7, Ephesians 2:13-22) James 2

Its worth doing a bit of a study on who Jesus is. He is the foundation of what is our new Religion. Christianity. But why? Jesus was God before he went to the cross, He was already worthy of our praise before. What Changed. ?? Why is Jesus now a Corner Stone. This Op is just a beginning into the subject.

Keeping with the fundamentals of the gospel, these verse duly apply and speak to the issue of what the gospel is.

Acts 13:26-39 King James Version (KJV)

26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.

29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.

30 But God raised him from the dead:

31 And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.

32 And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,

33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.

35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

The Point being. What Changed is, Jesus died for our sins. He provided forgiveness. Philippians 2 speaks about a new nature we should have which is like the character of Jesus Christ. This is what the church is missing. While I could explain it, Why not read it from the bible.

Philippians 2:4-11 King James Version (KJV)

4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

What Changed is, Jesus died for our sins. Jesus provided a way for forgiveness.

There is only so much time in the day to discuss this, but fundamentally Forgiveness is a cornerstone of Christianity. It is woven, baked, needed right into the clay of what Christianity is. The Metaphor may not be perfect, but Christ showed us a pattern. And dealt with sins and forgave others.

Where does the church go wrong. Cutting to the Point: God hates sin and expects Holiness. What is Holiness? One character trait of Holiness is not a snubbed nose, its a contrite and forgiving heart. Paul in Philippians did say, Let this mind be in You.

Whats wrong with you? What is wrong with Me? The church is a group of people, its us. Its not just an organization. So what is wrong with You and me the church? What mind must we have? I fear the Church many times does not have the mind of Christ or is seeking to have it. The Church meaning you and me, will kill its wounded. I will alienate, Hold grudges, find fault, Judge, expect in return or never lend at all. If something is done wrong to you, its never let go. Is this the kind of mind Jesus Christ had? Is this You? Is this me?

If Jesus is the Cornerstone and He is, What does that mean? He is the Author of Eternal Salvation through the forgiveness of sins by his blood poured out for you. Forgiveness is Foundational it is the bedrock of Christianity. And we need to dig deep into the dynamics of what ‘Christ in us’, looks like. What was Jesus willing to do to make peace with you? What are you willing to do to make peace with others? What is wrong with the church? Its not willing to do what it takes.
