God is not Dead. Life is Difficult but, God wants you to be a witness of his power. On the site we have been talking about Abuse, about rejection, co-dependency , about cutting and Suicide and we have been talking about Jesus big time. Jesus came to heal the broken hearted, to set the captives free. Isaiah 53. Psalms 147. Isaiah 61. To restore site to the blind and to heal relationships. The first is the relationship between you and God. And this is deep stuff and its beyond some simple confession or checking a box or doing a quick course in public school.
After reading the last few Opinion Pieces I think its clear God is working to restore some lost ground. Its not my message but its a message out of the bible that speaks out to us as we read. And God wants to set some people free from Pain and suffering and to give them peace. While talking with a customer today about a dream that is coming true for them, I was reminded of Josephs dreams and how he was abused by his brothers. You can find those stories in Genesis. God gave Joseph dreams that would help him survive emotionally while he went through the heavy storms of life. For him and for us its proof that that God had his hand in Josephs life all the way along even in the trouble. God saved Joseph and God saved the world at the time from famine because God worked and spoke through Joseph. While we might thing God should just send letters priority Post, God instead uses years of circumstances and troubles to get Joseph into the place where he could simply suggest to Egypt’s King to store grain.
Imagine that. Your whole life amounts to having the political capital to say to a king, there is a famine coming store grain up.
When Joseph becomes the right hand man, he ends up meeting his brothers again who came for food and the tables are turned. A great story I won’t tell here, it makes for a good homework project if you don’t know the story yet.
But Joseph says one important thing and I want to quote it:
19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? 20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. 21 Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.
God has a habit of making huge plans. Who knew. Many of Gods plans take 1000’s of years to play out. It boggles the mind. God has a bent of being very artistic, a novelist and a master mind. When you look at creation it only takes a few seconds to realize this guy is a genius. A great topic worth many Ops.
But one thing God is like is; He’s the sort of guy that says what He says but then tells you, by the way I am telling you this so that when it happens you will know, you will have proof that I am God. Even to the prophet of God some times they wonder if what they are hearing is from God. God knows that. If there was no question, we wouldn’t be having this discussion right now. Jesus would be popping down for tea every other Tuesday and giving lectures on how we could communicate the gospel better. But He doesn’t; He Promised to return, (and if it was not so, he would have told us.) at least that’s what he said. But we might doubt the writer, we might doubt God because bad things happen to good people. We might want more of an intervention. Again, worth a list of Ops.
God does intervene, but right now, he does it now through his spirit and through you and the situations he can work in to his master plan. Unfortunately it pretty clear he allows some suffering not just great success. Unfortunately he used some Deck half full poster on the internet site to do his work. What us the hand of God trying to do Gods work? Us trying to hear from God and speak what one might think God is trying to say through them? That might seem like a recipe for failure. Its a clunky way to do it, but its what God wants to happen. You wanted to be important. Well God is including you.
But here our lives are in a mess. We have struggles, past hurts, big questions about life and doubts ! And then, you hear people totally convinced of Gods plan and love. It must be nice for them. The fact is with maturity and Bible reading, experience your trust in God will grow and become rock solid. Well here is a scripture to start us down this path and help contribute to the over all discussion going on of real life on the site.
6 Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.
7 They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.
Part of good Character is knowing that God is God and you are not and contempt is not good Character either. God knows and makes efforts to set the record strait. And about Salvation, God told us he would come as the Son of God, Jesus Christ and He did so. God said, he would deal with the spiritual and emotional needs of people. And that is what He is doing.
Part of the gospel. Part of the Covenant is about social justice. Some might ask What does Christianity and Psychology have to do with each other. Well just about everything. And the same can be asked what about Law. What does Law and Christianity have to do with each other. A whole lot too. If Law is about how to treat people right, then the gospel is about Love. And God is Love. Christ died because He loves you. God stood in your place, paid for your sins that God says must be paid for. So Law and love and Psychology is part and parcel of the Gospel. Christianity is actually a very big tent, its a family, its a Travel company, its a support group, it is a Army it is a charity its a lot of things. God is calling people to be together to be with him and with each other. Jesus he gets the complexities.
God knew what he was doing. God new the style of the ministry Jesus Christ would bring. I will give you two proofs. There is a bit of reading but they are likely the two best proofs in the whole of the bible that God is God, that Jesus is the savior and that God is not fooling around concerning your welfare even though you might think from time to time he forgot your number.
These two scriptures will be the end of this Op. But ask yourself after reading these two things, if God understands you, and if he didn’t intentionally want to deal with issues. And, God brought salvation and, God brought a Big Tent Gospel, and he proves this to you by telling you hundreds of years before he did it, that he is God, and when it all happened, Can you be a Witness? You by witnessing history knowing God said it before it happened can say. I am a witness of what God can do and that God is real. Check these out.
Isaiah 53 King James Version (KJV)
53 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors..
Psalm 22 King James Version (KJV)
22 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
2 O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.
3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
8 He trusted on the Lord that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother’s breasts.
10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly.
11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.
12 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
19 But be not thou far from me, O Lord: O my strength, haste thee to help me.
20 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.
21 Save me from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
23 Ye that fear the Lord, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.
25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.
27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
28 For the kingdom is the Lord’s: and he is the governor among the nations.
29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.
30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people
