At not time did Jesus move one single mountain. At no time did an apostle move any mountains. So why did Jesus say :
21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
There are two answers and possibly these two scriptures will give light to them.
4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.
5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
Here God thee Almighty is speaking and it appears he lies. At no time did they fly on Eagles wings. At no time has there ever been an Eagle that can support human weight. At no place in the scripture is there a reference to people getting on Eagles and flying.
This next one is about Jesus Christ coming, but no road construction was done for the coming of Jesus Christ.
40 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.
3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
At no time did any valleys get exalted or filled and at no time was their a Mountain or hill cut off and thrown into a valley.
Does this mean Jesus did not come. Does this mean this it was huff and puff or exaggeration?
Exaggeration and hyperbole are representations of something in an excessive manner. Exaggeration is presenting something as better or worse than it really is whereas hyperbole is the use of exaggeration as a literary or rhetorical device. This is the main difference between exaggeration and hyperbole. -bing.
To suggest that Jesus was coming is an exaggeration is wrong. Still he did come in a manger not on eagles wings. Jesus was wrapped in swaddling clothes and laying in a manger. Not everything is hyperbole and not everything is Supernatural in the way its presented. Authors use language to build things up because they are important. A reader needs to take this into consideration and decide what is artistic and what is blatant prophecy.
An example is Psalms 22. There is a clear description of Jesus dying on the Cross. This might have been seen as Drama but it turns out to be very little artistic license and a whole lot of blatant reality of the brutalization of Jesus Christ.
Does this mean God does not Heal, that God does not act. No, the exact Opposite. God when he says you will mount up with wings as eagles is saying that you will get your own type of red sea crossing, your own liberation from Slavery. Obviously you have no nation behind you and a group of 3 million Jews with you, But you might have a Union needing some basic rights and you pray for help And then something unexpected happens and Poof things work out.
Its very possible that the story of the Read Sea is exaggerated. Its described as walls of water on each side, but its more likely that the place where they crossed was too deep for such a event and more likely a volcanic event happened where there was uplift on the sea floor and a Tsunami level of draining from the are so the ground they crossed over was not only dry but hot baked dry. And its very likely that the water then came back like a mountain of water killing anyone running after the Hebrew people. What a coincidence that when Moses needed to cross a natural event happened.
While its obvious to us this was supernatural to them it appears that just a few months later they were doubting Gods faithfulness. Clearly some where doubting the events they just experienced, including the volcanic activity as Moses was going up the mountain. They might even have said, look, Moses didn’t part these waters, look at this volcanic activity. I think it had something to do with it.
These issues are about trust. I believe God is faithful, but i also believe he uses artistic license. So when he says you will move mountains he is not talking about mountains. What he is saying is, Huge things will change because you pray. We see this in how the church grew, how the temple was destroyed and how Peter was let out of Jail in Acts. But lets not be naive. Everyone dies. Not only that Every Apostle save one died terrible deaths at the hands of abusive people. Christianity is not a magic show. Almost never does God allow people to walk through flames, but he did it once with the three men. Almost never does God raise the dead, but he did it with for the Buddy of Jesus. Almost never does God heal poisonous snake bites but he did it for Paul.
God not fixing things for you is not a sign he is dead or not existing. God Changed a whole set up, he excluded Israel giving their kingdom over to Jesus Christ. Now we are all capable of being citizens of the Lords Kingdom. That was a big event. People spoke in tongues showing that the spirit was given to the church not just to the Sanhedrin, That was a big sign. This was/is our new Passover and Pentecost. The Law of God is now in our hearts. This is a huge change. God has his own agenda and work, its not all about you specifically but it does involve you to some degree..
We are almost 2000 years out from that event. The church to a great degree is rudderless in their minds. There is almost no difference between the days before Jesus came and now. We think we know what should happen but its not happening. We have a Catholic church who has laid down laws and beliefs supposedly ‘ex cathedra’ and has no way to fix their errors or back up without swallowing pride. So the church remains with some pretty serious false doctrine. There is wrong doctrine around Mary, the Eucharist and Papal authority Worse, there is a shocking absence of Salvation by being born again being taught.
We have Christians who think the spirit of God causes them to bark like dogs. We have fake miracle workers who parade themselves and people claiming that we can move literal mountains but only if you just send in your seed money of faith meaning they are snake oil salesman. Some have lost their minds and so lustful they will try any sort of witchcraft or yelling and slamming people to the ground or whatever to try and get some sort of super power. Some even run around pretending to be prophets saying a lot of crap.
All of these things bring trust levels down. It makes people look at Christianity as a failure. When mountains are not literally removed, they see God as a Failure. He said it, so why isn’t it happening. He also said we would mount up with wings as Eagles. Should I trust him or have contempt…
There is no question, Signs will follow them that believe. Most Christians can name one or two things that are not just fake but real interventions by God. many may be ignorant of the facts. Many may think the big wins came accidentally.. God did help, but it is still slim pickings. Lets face it, Apostles like Stephen get stoned. One Atheist might then ask, How’s your faith? How is this so called Jesus working out for you Stephen?
You know, Honesty is the best Policy. Actually it is the Only Policy. So lets be honest. People say a lot of Huff and Puff, Gods going to do this or that. But he is doing what he is doing and not doing what he is not doing. Anyone can say anything about the future and how God might or will do this or that. Just send 20 bucks and your future will be great. I wish they would shut up. They are saying God fails you now but just wait till then.. They said that 100 years ago. And a hundred before that. This Gods going to do this or that in the future preaching is really hate speech toward God. Its not accurate preaching. Its an attempt to deceive you and give you answers they don’t have. Why not man up and simply say. God didn’t heal my mother but I trust him anyways. God did not get me that great paying Job so I am working for minimum wage for the rest of my life and will not have a pension. Its not because God failed, its because our world and economics doesn’t give everyone the same pay. Its because people die. This does not change who God is. It just means he is not your butler and isn’t giving everyone a pay raise. Only Socialists promise you everything and deliver nothing but a portion of your own money back.
How about instead of moving mountains that we, get real. That God heals some times. Don’t lie but still trust. God listens to our prayers and says yes, some times I will fix this, but other times he says no. life is hard. God will not make us taller, we will not grow wings, Here and there he will pepper us with some kindness. And no Pepper will be used. to a great degree we need to live our lives, not couch surf.
One final thought as you watch the video above. Whatever Mountain Lauren needed to move, its no surprise that in it all she is at the top of the charts. While God did not move a single mountain for her, she is till on top of the mountain. Who new! And when you listen to her next song “You Say” Reflect as she sits by her pool. As she questions who she is and who He is. Maybe our perspective is skewed in our culture and we need to re-think our Christianity as we pretend to understand what Christianity is about.
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
One final point. Don’t hate on God. That is what separates you from him. Ask for what you need. Read your bible learn for yourself what he is like and change the dynamics of your relationship with God. Respect him as a free individual and God of the universe. Take the time and actually pray to God. Ask him for help. Ask him for specifics, ask him for leadership. And don’t give up on yourself and Don’t give up on God.
